Bhopal: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) on Wednesday issued notices to the Railway Board Chairman and the Director General of Police of Madhya Pradesh over the shocking incident in which a man was tied to a train’s window and beaten up brutally by three men on a Mumbai bound train on March 25.

The Commission has observed that it is a matter of concern that despite deployment of RPF to monitor security of the passengers in the moving trains and the GRP at every station, no security personnel noticed the plight of the victim between Jabalpur and Itarasi

According to the media reports, the boy, Sumit, reportedly had an altercation after he drank water from the bottle of a fellow passenger without seeking his permission. Thereafter, a group of them beat and hanged him upside down out of the window of the fast moving train for nearly four hours covering a distance of about 272 kilometers from Jabalpur to Itarasi.

They did not stop at this only and continued to beat him very badly at every station till some vendors saved him from their clutches. As per the report, the group of passengers, who beat Sumit, was travelling from Patna to Mumbai to appear in a competitive examination.
